The Story of the Storytellers
The blog provides lessons in history, recipes, and a look (sometimes comically) at family life. The purpose of our blog Once Upon the Prairie is to entertain readers and teach. We believe history can by fun and educational. It is our intent you find this blog resourceful and useful in the classroom and in everyday life.
We are grandmothers who met 35 years ago over a bridge table. Since that date we have faced together the challenges life brings to working mothers, whether those challenges were created by children, aging parents or using hair spray for deodorant. Over the years fellowship across the bridge table provided therapy and much laughter. (However, if it is true laughter is the best medicine, we think our doctor and pharmaceutical bills should be lower.) When faced with retirement, we decided to supplement our bridge playing with writing activities.
Life on the Prairie - introduces you to the fictional heroines we are writing about in our books. Each girl has a positive character trait, and her story is set in an historical time period. (The work is in progress, and we will tell you more about the girls and book later.)
The Historical Fact - presents a quick history fact from the time period of one of the young fictional heroines.
The Storytellers' Corner - features a continuing and anecdotal collection of memories.
Prairie Recipes by Collette - provides interesting recipes from an historical period of time as well as some mouth-watering ones to try.

Up the Family Tree by Judy - is a mother’s humorous look at everyday happenings in a family with four children.
